Field Service Engineer
An opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Services Team. The main purpose of this role is to deliver a very high technical and professional level of service to our customers. The role encompasses worldwide onsite technical assistance to customers during: overhaul, repair, maintenance, fault finding and installation and commissioning of steam turbines, reciprocating gas compressors and gearboxes. The individual is expected to have expert knowledge in these areas.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities
To provide a full engineering support service for our customers.
To develop and manage exceptional customer relationships through excellence in terms of technical capability and through personal interactions’ with customers.
Provide technical support to colleagues and be part of the wider Technical Support Team.
Provide detailed Site Reports to the required standard that highlight actions which may need to be taken and seek opportunities for improvement.
Supervise the activities of Company or Customer supplied Technicians, be responsible for their day-to-day safety requirements, site activities and discipline.
Diligence at all times in protecting the Company commercial and warranty liabilities.
Develop installation, maintenance and overhaul schedules.
When necessary support with customer training activities to help educate customer staff in the correct operation and maintenance of equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Expert knowledge and first-hand experience of steam turbines, reciprocating gas compressors and gearboxes that are the same or similar to those manufactured by Peter Brotherhood to include trouble shooting, overhaul, repair, fault finding, installation and commissioning.
Able to produce detailed reports of site activities and recommendations.
Ability to supervise others at site during installation, commissioning and maintenance activities.
Experience of working in sugar mills, mining, industrial, oil and gas sectors including offshore is desirable.
Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
Good appreciation and understanding of business and commercial issues in relation to the role.
Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
Time served Indentured Apprenticeship to a recognised National Standard.
The role will require extensive worldwide travel, including offshore, often at short notice so a flexible approach is required to working patterns is required.
